NTRC donates over EC$13,000 in equipment to National                             Society of and for the Blind

[Saint Vincent and the Grenadines] – The NTRC donated EC$13,341.33 worth of equipment to the National Society of and for the Blind on July 29, 2026, at the Society’s headquarters in Kingstown. The donated equipment included one laptop, two tablets, and one Perkins Braille Machine, which were formally received by Mr. Daniel Chambers, the Acting President on behalf of the Society.

The equipment will enhance the Society’s ability to provide accessible learning, communication, and digital services for persons who are blind or visually impaired, while supporting braille literacy, digital skills development, and greater access to information and technology.

This donation of equipment to the Society demonstrates the NTRC’s commitment to digital inclusion by providing persons with disabilities access to the technological tools they need to learn, connect, and thrive in today’s digital world. The donation forms part of the NTRC’s Digital Resilience, Inclusion, Virtual Access and Empowerment (DRIVE) Project, funded through the Universal Service Fund (USF).

Acting President Mr. Chambers expressed his sincere appreciation to the NTRC, noting that the donated equipment was both timely and essential to the Society’s work. He emphasized that the donation would have a meaningful impact on the lives of the Society’s members, particularly the Perkins Braille Machine, which will enable persons who are blind or visually impaired to write in braille, complete schoolwork, take notes, and strengthen their braille literacy skills.

The handing over was also attended by Ms. Angelita Miller, the Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of the Family and Gender Affairs, Persons with Disabilities and Labour, Ms. Shadeja Gordon- NTRC’s USF Administrator, Ms. Rhea Lewis- NTRC’s Consumer and Public Relations Manager and other members of the Society.
