NTRC’s Agenda for Public awareness in 2026

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – The NTRC is set to deliver an exciting and impactful year of public engagement, education, and innovation through its 2026 Public Awareness Programme. Designed to empower citizens, strengthen digital literacy, and promote safe and meaningful use of information and communication technologies (ICTs), the programme will span schools, communities, and online platforms across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Throughout the year, the NTRC will intensify its public outreach using a mix of radio and television appearances, school visits, community sessions, live streams, and dynamic social media content. Weekly initiatives such as Tech Solutions Tuesdays, Poll Fridays, Emoji Challenges, and Online Safety Awareness campaigns will encourage public interaction while making technology relatable, practical, and easy to understand.

A strong emphasis will be placed on online safety and consumer awareness, equipping children, parents, and the wider public with the tools to navigate the digital space responsibly. Activities tied to international observances, such as International Women’s Day, World Consumer Rights Day, Girls in ICT Day, and World Telecommunication and Information Society Day will spotlight inclusion, innovation, and the role of ICTs in national development.

Youth engagement remains a cornerstone of the NTRC’s work. In 2026, the Commission will host three (3) MyApp Summer Programmes, offering students hands-on training in application development, coding, and robotics. These programmes aim to spark interest in technology careers while building practical, future-ready skills. Complementing this effort is the highly anticipated icode784 Competition, which continues to grow as the country’s premier ICT innovation challenge. With expanded categories and wider participation expected, icode784 will once again showcase the creativity and talent of Vincentian youth.

Community-focused initiatives will also take center stage. The NTRC will conduct GMDSS radio training sessions for fishermen and maritime users, improving safety and emergency preparedness at sea. Additionally, the Commission will continue its Bursary Program, supporting primary and secondary school students to finance their school needs.

In addition, the NTRC is set to celebrate its 25th Anniversary in 2026. Special commemorative activities, promotions, and outreach efforts will mark this milestone year.

By blending education, innovation, and engagement, the NTRC’s 2026 Public Awareness Programme reaffirms its mission to ensure that everyone, especially young people and underserved communities, can benefit from safe, accessible, and meaningful use of telecommunications and digital technologies.
